Donald J. Barth, a longtime staple in Acapulco has passed away. He was the past President of The Salvation Army Acapulco Advisory Board. He and his wife Nancy have helped the children of Acapulco for many years. He also worked with the American Legion here in Acapulco. The children’s Birthday parties at the Salvation Army Acapulco Children’s Home and the American Legion parties at Bocana Beach Restaurant are legendary.
We wish to express our sincere condolonces to his wife Nancy and the entire Barth family for their loss.
Don gave tirelessly of himself in helping the children at The Salvation Army Acapulco Children’s Home. Don, Nancy and Jorge at Bocana Beach, along with many French Canadians and other American Expats, also donated and held Christmas parties every year for the children of DIF, the government childrens organization, here in Mexico.
He was designated as Migrant of The Year by the State of Guerrero in 2017 for his volunteer work with children here in Acapulco. Many children that have passed through the home remember him fondly as the guy who made Cotton Candy at the homes events. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial ceremony and internment of ashes with military honors will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a future date. There will also be a Memorial Service sometime in December here in Acapulco for all of those, who for many years, came to events for The Salvation Army Acapulco Children’s Home and also The American Legion parties. We will post when we have the details of the Memorial here in Acapulco.
